Bellies and Boy Names

Last weekend we went to Vegas for Sara's shower. It was SO MUCH fun to spend the weekend with them and to partake in all the Baby Maggie excitment. While there Sara and I took pregnant pictures. Sara is due March 3rd... and I'm a whole three months later (and taking forever to really show). I LOVE being pregnant with my sisters. Hooray for cute pregnant bellies!

On a different note: from the time Jeremy and I were engaged and planned on starting a family right away, we talked about names. Once we knew I was pregnant, we had a girl name almost immediately. Of boy names... we had a list of options, but never even got close to picking one exclusively. So when it was obvious we were having a boy, the conversation started anew. I'll admit, it's been a constant debate. There are a few criteria (some of which are just mine, and some of which we both feel strongly about): 1. It needs to be a name with history. Preferably history of people we know and love. 2. It needs to be classic (not a new, experiemental name). 3. It needs to not be a name that a million babies are given right now (thus there won't be three of them in kindergarden together having to use middle initials etc.).

With all that said, I still go back and forth and have a new favorite every single day. Yep. I just can't decide. Almost every name on the list has a pro and con to it that won't let me quite give in yet. I know, I know, I still have 3 1/2 months to go... so there's no rush... but I want to have a name. So, please tell me what you, the masses, have to say. Listed in no particular order, here they are:

Mark Morrell
Charles (Charlie)
Raymond John
Morrell Alan
Peter
David John
Stuart

note: I LOVE middle names and plan on calling my kids by first and middle names... but know I will also use all sorts of abreviations as well. Hence, Raymond John would easily be just Ray, we've joked that Morrell could go by Mo or Mac (his initials) on occastion, and Peter could be Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. All full and abreviated versions are (possibly) game. For those listed without middle names... we just haven't come up with one yet.

So what do you think?

ps. Stuart isn't really on the list because Jeremy HATES it... but I love it. Does anyone else agree??

This is an interesting topic. What to name ones baby. Luckily Michael and I have had an easy time with it. Gabe's name was picked out before he was conceived. Audrey's was decided upon 1/2 way through the pregnancy, though we did argue about her middle name until she was born. I liked Rose and Grace but Grace won out. We already have names picked out for 3 more kids. LOL I guess we better get crackin.

Enough about me. I think Morrell is the most original. I think I like Charlie the best. It just reminds me the most of you and would be so cute for a baby boy. I think it would also sound good with any of the other names as a middle name. I am not partial to Stuart. Sorry, I side with Jeremy. Though I have a new name for your list, Snowball! It is a family name for you. ;) There was a lady in my last ward that gave her daughter the middle name of Snowflake. Very unique.

Well I hope I was helpful or at least gave you a good laugh. Oh I saw cute crib sheets at Walmart that had very small red, blue, and cream stripes, maybe even yellow You look so cut in your pictures.

Love the pregnant pictures. Oh so cute! What fun it looked and sounded like you guys had together last weekend. Really wish I could have been there too.

As for names, I am going to have to still think on these. I will come back and post in a bit when I have thought them through more. Love you!!

You and Sara look SO adorable pregnant together. It's amazing how much that little one will grow in the next 3 months. Trust me you will definitely get a bigger belly. :)

As for names, I like Mark Morrell the best, but David John is my second fav. All of them are classic, like you mentioned and are wonderful boy names. I really like the idea of using Grandpa's name though. Anyway, I'm sure you will be able to decide eventually. You don't really have to know until you meet the little guy. Glad you had a fun time with Sara for the shower. Take care!

That's so fun that you are pregnant with your sisters! I love the belly to belly picture :).

I like Mark and David the best off of your list. I don't know that I can ever name a boy Mark because I had a boyfriend named Mark, but hey, he IS how I met my husband, so maybe it would be appropriate after all :). I'm glad you posted your ideas! At least your indecision involves "new favorites every day" instead of just no good ideas (that's our problem). What was your girl name, out of curiosity, or are you guarding it for the future?!

Don't worry about showing, on the second one you show a lot EARLIER than you want. I really like the name Stewart but my second would be Charlie, it's cute and not too common.

Love pregnant bellies! Names - hmm. I like Mark Morell - probably a bit prejudiced there! He could be an M&M! I like Raymond John, probably some prejudice there as well! I like David John - you could have a sweet DJ! But forus grandmas - the name doesn't matter - we love them even if they are Jonjacobjingleheimer Smith!

I think I like Charlie the best. In my sick pregnant state, I have recently watched the entire 3rd season of Numbers and one of the main characters is named Charlie. He's cute and smart and the name has kind of grown on me!

I like Raymond John the best!

Names are so difficult. We struggle with both sexes. At first when you said you were considering Morrell I honestly didn't know what to think, but I think it's grown on me. I just found out my great great grandpa's name was Morrell, so maybe I'm biased. I also like Charlie, Ray, and Mark.

Cute bellies! lol, I've always thought that Pregnant people are so cute!!...It must be somethin' to do with "the Glow"...and you definately have it!
I'm so excited for you!! ...and I think all the names are good..I also agree with you on Stuart. It'll be fun to see what name you guys choose! ;-)

You look so cute pregnant!!!

I like all your names! Guess I am a little partial to "Mark" and "Raymond". If you are looking at something with history, Dad's name was "Raymond Johan". His father was "Hans Charles or Carl" so I have liked "Charles" too.

"James" and "Phillip" and "Francis" are common names in Mom's history. I always thought I would like to use "Redding" as a middle name but I didn't have another boy...
There are alot named "Isaac" and "Silas", and "David" is very prominent.

Of course there are also, Willis, Alva, Wilber, Elmer, Shelby, Gilbert and one guy named "Lora" :) I think they were running out of names... that family had 16 kids!

Can you tell I have been looking at our genealogy? There are lots of people we need to get work done for...

Good luck, the best answer may be to wait til you see him and one of the names will just pop forth in your mind.

Whatever you choose it will be perfect!

I love the name Peter! I don't know where you plan on living but I have met quite a few mothers that have named both their girl or boy Charlie. So I don't know know if that's going to be a name that won't require a middle initial in school. But I still love love love that name anyways.

LOVE the belly pics! I'll be your so excited to finally have a little baby bump! As far as the names, I like Mark Morrell and Raymond John. Mostly so we can call him Ray-J.

I vote for Peter or David John, personally. Maybe I'm just partial to David because it's one of Mike's middle names - he has two.
