I'm not joking. Its juicy, succulent, flavorful meat will have you asking for seconds... until that sweet little chickee is all gobbled up (as just happened at our kitchen table. With Jeremy being the primary gobbler despite the fact that normally he simply endures chicken for my benefit. No forced eating tonight).
Unsure what to do? Where to start?
- Your local grocer will have whole chickens in probably the frozen and/or refrigerated meat section. Don't be fooled in paying much more (if any) that about five bucks.
- If indicated on the package, remove the "innards"
- Place in crock pot on low for a good 6-8 hours.
Go on, give it a whirl. I'm telling you, it's life changing.
(It's very satisfying to write with many too many italics sometimes. Please excuse the exuberance.)

Mmmm, you are making me want to buy one tonight at the store. That sounded much to easy too. Yum yum! Glad it went so well!
Hmm I will have to try that. I have never cooked a whole chicken period. Much less in the crock pot. But since I'm on a stricter grocery budget these days I'm up for less expensive, but still yummy meat. Thanks for the tip!
Haha, life changing huh? I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I've cooked it from it's completely frozen state as well, since I usually forget to defrost until it's too late. Very easy indeed.
seriously this is too funny... i did this for the first time a week ago and i couldn't believe how good it wasw and tasteful. i was so intimidated by the "whole chicken".. i saved the broth and made soup the next day too :)
I have been a fan! I love them, and the roasted one in the oven was delicious as well. Just don't smoke your family out! :)
Carly you are so cute. I will definately have to try this. I have never cooked a whole chicken or turkey. One of my goals this year is to do just that. I really need to experiment more with cooking chicken. We have a lot of sauted chicken, delicious but gets boring! Thanks for the inspiration!
