You will probably not be surprised to hear that RED will play a significant role in my nursury creating. But, the truth is, it won't be the only color. I've loved ideas I've found with red playing a dominant theme, but accented by other soft baby colors. Most of the following are from the same nursury (on ohdeedoh.com) for a little girl. Since mine is a little boy bun, I like the idea of accenting red with baby blues and soft yellows instead of green.

Is this red furniture not to die for? So far I don't know how much furniture will make it into the budget... but I would like a chest of drawers and a small bookshelf (and a crib, of course). As far as buying goes, I would go white (especially the crib). Although it is tempting to paint the others (if we get them) red. So so fabulous. One can dream, can't she?

Something else I love about this room (and that is so fabulous about the play room/guest room in two pictures down) is the pictures on the wall. I love that they are framed in red and are from old vintage kids books. Or new kids books. Either way. I love this idea. My thoughts are to paint some cheap frames red (unless I can find them cheap and red already) and put nursury rhymes, pictures (scanned? cut out of DI books?) in them. I saw once is craftpad.com (shown below) that she covered her mats in fun fabrics. Love that idea too. Or, I could embroider something and frame it in red. An A, B, C all hung in a row? We'll see. But either way I work it, I LOVE the idea of literary wall hangings. I am an English teacher, after all.

And there you have it. All my thoughts so far. Don't worry, more are to come. I haven't actually bought a thing (although my mom found some solid red knit sheets yesterday and added them to her basket (hooray!)). So far most all of this is in the planning stages... but that's the fun part, isn't t? In the meantime I have a few fun projects up my sleeve for my sisters who are both about to pop. (Tasha's due Monday, folks, and Sara in a month). Babies, babies, everywhere and all the world is well.

Those are some cute ideas for a nursery. I love the ideas of kids books/illustrations in photo's on the wall. Isn't craftpad a great site.
So are we going to see the redwork blocks in the nursery?
I don't know if the redwork blocks will come up in this nursury or not. Could i finish the quilt? Yes. But it's kind of girly--as in they are all sunbonnet susans. I might have to wait for my first girl. Maybe not though. What do you think?
I am loving all these ideas!! Loving them. And YES, that red furniture is fabulous. You could totally buy DI or Craigslist furniture and just paint them all red. LOVE THE IDEA! And to accent with blue and yellow . . . love that too. You are going to have one cute nursery.
PS and yes I do kind of agree about the redwork quilt. It is a little more girly. So, maybe not this one, but if you are just not getting a girl, then you could change your mind down the road. But, totally do what you want :)
Your nursery ideas are so cute! I really like your literary wall art. It gives me great ideas for my kids. Have a splenderiffic day!
cute and fun ideas!! You are creative! I'm sooo happy for you!! Keep Smilin'!! Life's Gr8!!
ps. Our blogs are set to "private" but if you'd like to see them, send me an email at lia86_04@hotmail and I'll add you to the list.
Ooh I love the nursery ideas. I was going to suggest checking out Michael's for the red frames. I'm pretty positive they had some thin red frames 50% off the last time I was there. Also, have you explored Craigslist or your local classifieds for baby furniture? It seems like there are always a TON of listings for baby stuff here in UT. You could always paint some furniture too. Anyway, I'm sure you will make it work and it will be adorable and fabulous. I'm so excited to meet all the newbie Torgerson babies!
So so cute! I love the red frame ideas, I think embroidered ones would be very cute! I also love the mobil. I find myself on the computer all the time searching for ideas for a nursery (although I have no idea what I am having yet), so it is a lot of fun to see other people's ideas! Thanks for sharing!
You should really give me a call - it seems like I'm always awake between 3 am and 5 am.! Cute nursery ideas! debbie
I haven't bought a thing either. The planning part is just as fun in my book. We bought Gavin's chest of drawers at walmart, primed it, and then painted it blue. That would be easily done. I love the idea of red in a nursery. It works great for a boy and a girl:) They say that's the first color babies see. I'm not really a pink fan, at least in abundance, so I am thinking about using red as my accent color as well. We'll see. I don't have as many ideas in the works yet.
Those are ADORABLE. I'm totally saving this post to refer to in the future.
I LOVE your ideas Carly! You should try looking for stuff on ebay, I'll bet you can find lots of vintage books and other things for pretty cheap! Super cute!
