I love blogs with pictures. Beautiful and artistic pictures. A few whose pictures I can't resist include soulemama, The Family Chiara, A Family of Boys... and Me, Blue Yonder, my happy little life... just to name a few. I am excited when I see new posts from such blogs because I know they will be filled with images that inspire and describe, clarify and explain, beautify and uplift. I am grateful for skilled photographers who have a knack for capturing the simple and the everyday events and making them unique and beautiful.
And yet. I am not a photographer. Not even a little bit. Not even kind of. I don't even know where our camara is at the moment.
And so my blog has either stolen pictures (see post below. None are taken by me), or no pictures at all (or worse yet, pictures taken on my phone...). And sometimes I just don't post because I have nothing to give in the way of photography. Please forgive me.
I am, however, an aspiring writer. I like to think I have it in me to paint a picture with words in such a way that will make the image come alive just as your vibrant snapshots would.
Lamentably, I haven't been doing many posts that do this either lately. Partly because our internet is unstable. Partly because I am oh so tired these days. Partly because I have not chosen to. So today I'm telling you that I will start writing more. Not necessarily more posts. But writing-rich posts. The details of our lives. The bright red and yellow tulips that have opened to the just-arrived springtime sun, and that bob their heads at me as I walk to work. The quiet of yesterday afternoon spent with needle and thread and hopes for Baby. The pleasure of sleeping in until 7:20 this morning and waking up to a soft kiss on the cheek from Mr. Christiansen.
I hope that you'll forgive me for my lack of pictures. I'll do my best when Baby arrives to capture his little moments. But probably I will do better at describing and detailing with words. I hope you'll still come and visit.

well you are a beautiful write carlie I love reading your posts. I hope pregnancy is being a wonderful treat for you.
You most definatly do have a way with words. Truly those last two paragraphs I could completely visiualize all those wonderful things. I think my favorite was the vision of you sitting with needle and thread waitng for that baby to come. I could see it completely and it put a smile right onto my face. I cannot wait for baby Christiansen to come and read all about him. I know there are going to be described just in the most perfect way. I love you!! Can't wait for more posts. And yes, keep writing. I love love love reading what you write. love it. Oh, and now you have me wanting to see tulips really badly. Wish I got to watch some out in our front yards.
You are a great writer and even if you were not, I would still read your blog because I love that it keeps us connected.
PS-I thought it was conundrum? With a K? Cool.
I love your writing Carly. I love to read good writing, and have gotten pickier in the books I read, yet I feel to be a very inadequet writer. Though I would love to see more pics! :) I loved reading your birthday posts to family members, such a memorable gift to charish for each of them. Don't worry about the blog, you are pregnant and busy. I love peeking out my windows to see tulips and daffodils in my yard.
You'll be amazed at how you start running for that camera when that cute baby shows up. And if that smile of his doesn't get you off your tush, the guilt trips from Grandmas, and Aunties who don't see enough of him will. ;)
That said, I too lament my untalent of photography. Part of me wants to take a class or read and learn about taking great pictures, but the bigger part of me just can't get into it. *Sigh*
Carly, thank you. What a compliment! But having a way with words is something beautiful. And you certainly do have a way with words. I really enjoy your blog and can't wait to read all about your baby. I will be visiting often...but you'll have to include pictures too, because we all will be dying to see him!
You do have a way with words Carly, no pictures necessary! Then there is me who takes hundreds of pictures, so many that I can't get to them all! So sorry - I really do plan on emailing the rest of your baby shower pics someday :)
i feel the same as you- if my post wont have pictures, i sometimes hesitate posting it at all!
but your blog alwas makes me smile, even without pictures!
