Alive and Kickin'

I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous for my first surgery. Never had my appendix out. Never had stitches. Never been to the hospital before labor and delivery. Heck, never even had my wisdom teeth out. So while gall bladder surgery is outpatient and considered routine, it definitely wasn't part of my routine.

But you know, it wasn't so bad.

Friday morning we were up bright and early. I did one last nursing and we were on our way to the hospital by 6am. A few short hours later I was a new person minus a gall bladder (with 14 stones rolling around in it... and one extracted from the bile duct).

By 1pm I was back sitting on my own couch, still a little dazed from the anesthesia. So far I've been doing pretty well. I am sore and achy and bruised around my incisions, but have been able to move around and nurse Raymond and fill up on jello and pudding and soda crackers.

My mother-in-law, Debbie, has been here to help take care of Raymond and keep our house in working order. She has been wonderful--honestly I couldn't have done it without her.

So all is well in the Christiansen household. Hope your weekend has included a few less cuts than mine has, however!

all my lovin'

What is it with you torgersons and gall stones!!! That is such a bummer to have to cope with, especially after child birth. I remember when Tasha went through all that after Tanner. I'm glad to hear that it all went well and that you have help. :) Keep on takin' it easy!

Hang in there, I'm glad you're doing well! Hopefully you'll be back to yourself in no time. I keep worrying that I might be next to have mine out...

Way to join the ranks of no gallbladder! Aubrey, Traci, and I have all had ours out. I'm glad you are part of our club now.

I didn't realize that you were going in for surgery! Outpatient or not it's a big deal. I'm glad that you had your MIL there to help out. Hope you keep on feeling better and better. 14 gallstones?!? That's some major pain. I'm sure that life will be more comfortable from here on out (once those stitches heal and all).

I had mine out about 2 years ago. You will feel so much better when you're all healed. Yay for no more back pain! It seems to run in our family doesn't it?

Glad to hear you did so well!!! Don't try to get back to normal too fast though... You still need a little recovery time after a surgery, even a relatively simple one. Let that body rest. But, then, you will find so many foods are fun to eat without gallstones causing their havoc!!! Heal fast!
