home

This turned out to be a whirlwind of a weekend. Friday morning I got up early and drove to Provo, picked up the boys, and made it to Vegas. Saturday we got home in time for Melanie (my cousin) and Brad's luncheon and reception. It was wonderful getting to spend time with everyone. There were so many Snowballs in town for the funeral, that we wedding also became a wonderful family reunion. Sunday we spent time at Grandma's--with aunts and great aunts and first and second cousins. Monday morning was the funeral. I, as my mother said, was the messiest mess. All my pent up grief and disbelief hit me at the viewing. It is really hard for me to let him go. But, the funeral was beautiful--my aunts did a wonderful job speaking, I made it through the Snowball musical number without crying, and the flowers were a perfect reminder of Grandpa's love of gardening. The graveside was nice, as was the luncheon. Later that night the boys and I squeezed back into my little Honda Hatchback and caravaned back to Vegas with Sara and Stanford. This morning we got up early and drove to Provo and I made it back to Blanding in one piece (minus the muffler)!

All in all, I am so so grateful I was able to be home. It was worth every hour of the drive, the sub plans, and the tears. I just love my family. I think I am one of those really lucky people (like so many of you!) whose cup runs over when it comes to richness in my life from my family. I am so glad it is Valentine's week--so I can continue to tell them over and over in as many "Love Languages" as I can--just how much I love them.

Oh, I love SO many of those pictures. I love that you have one of Tanner putting a flower on Grandpa's grave. I will be stealing it very soon. Along with many others. I can't wait to get all the ones that Stanford took. I am SOOOO grateful you came this weekend. So glad I got to spend some time with you . . . and I am glad you were the "messest mess". Don't worry I felt like I had been like that for days on end from time to time. I am one that just believes it is okay to cry (although I recently learned I seem to be one to do it by myself mostly). I just cannot even tell you how much I love you. Truly you are a treasure in my life. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family. I just cannot get over that and I stand in aww and wonder much of the time. But, I will be forever grateful. I am VERY VERY glad you made it back to blanding in one piece (minse the muffler and a little bit of an adventure). I love you dearly and hope those students of yours are happy to see you and feel lucky and blessed to have you back!

PS will you send me more pictures you took to my email when you get a chance???

That sounds like a lovely weekend. So glad you were able to make it home. I love the 5 love languages...you strike me as an acts of service kind of gal. I do love it when our cups run over! I'm glad you had a great time!

I loved getting to see you so much this weekend and for having you "crash" at our place. You are wonderful. I'm so glad you were able to make it home safe and sound, although I can't wait to hear about what happened to the muffler...yikes. Good luck going back to work tomorrow...and check out our blog. Stanford posted the funeral pictures.

Carly I am so sorry about your Grandfathers death. You truly are blessed with a wonderful family and to have been able to have a close relationship with your grandparents. It is an amazing blessing to see family often.

We had so much fun seeing you too! I'm so glad that you and blake and chad could come and even made it for the wedding. Its still weird that grandpa is gone, but the service was really beautiful and I feel peaceful about it. Good luck getting back into the swing of life this week! I love you too!

I'm sorry to hear about your Grandpa Snowball. I hope that teaching English in Blanding is treating you so extraordinarily well.
