But what I think I love most about Valentine's Day is that, like Thanksgiving, it is a chance to slow down and remember who and what I really love, and then make a point to express it. So, I wanted to tell you just a few of the things I love most of all...
my great big family, the color red, big hugs--bear hugs, the kind that almost hurt, books and books and books, reading a new book, rereading a loved book, Paige, watching a movie late at night, going to bed early, sleeping in just a little on Saturdays, going to the temple, the scriptures, reunions with people I haven't seen in a while, rocking chairs (mine in particular), the snow, backrubs, cheese LDS music (like Cheri Call), the wind, Chad, popcorn, waking up in the middle of the night and knowing I can keep sleeping, blogging (I really do love it!), good good friends (like Katy Cullen and Katy Olson and Nick Stephens), fresh snow, my dad, the mountains, talking to Tasha (and Tanner) on the phone, Grandma's house, wearing an apron, my hometeacher and his wife (Ann), Blake, learning a new skill, making someone laugh, my little apartment, Bella (my fish), talking on the phone (sometimes), Honduras, Sara and Stanford, chickens, water, music--and singing along as loud as I can, my mom--she's pretty incredible, Priesthood holders, wearing glasses, Tasha and Brian, teaching such outstanding students, talking walks, smiling at someone unexpectedly, when I control my temper, Tanner and Brayden, my (future) children, a living prophet, raisins, sewing, mail...

Oh, I loved every bit of this post . . . every single bit! Happy Valentine's Day my wonderful red lovin sister!! And yes, I LOVE that headstone Paige found in the cemetary. Love it. It is you my Carly Jane! It was very fun to read the things you love. We are lucky girls to have grown up with the RIGHT perspective of Valentine's Day. It really is just so almost my favorite holiday. I just adore it. I have decided my "word" is LOVE. It is what I believe and want to be and just so what I love. I think I am going to post it in my home and make it kind of our family word to. If all I teach my boys is to LOVE then I think all else will fall into place too. Because, if you truly love than charity falls into place and if that happens so many other wonderful things happen too. I love you Carly Jane. Love you so so much!
I loved loved this post! I'm so glad that you are enjoying your day; Happy Valentine's Day! I love you! I also totally teared up at that gravestone, but in a good, still smiling way. Grandpa was so awesome. I can see him telling us that. Happy V Day!
PS-Weston and I are both wearing red, baking sugar cookies and enjoying lovins.
I loved your post too. Very creative and I loved reading all the things you love. I'm glad I made you take a picture of that headstone because it is pretty darn fabulous! Happy Valentine's Day!
Was the boyfriend you had on vday when we were in high school? and was he in our seminary class? I think I might be having a few flashbacks right now. Maybe I'm wrong. :) I love you carly, happy late red day!
No--I don't think I ever had a boyfriend who was in our seminary class (unless you remember something I don't!! What are you flashing back to?). It was in college--and it's not that it was a bad vday... I just remember I didn't feel very good but didn't want to spoil the night so sort of never said anything and was just relieved when it was over.
that headstone is amazing....I want that written on mine now! haha its just so sweet...AND a Guys and Dolls shout out..too perfecT!
