I have never been a big-purse person. I just don't like dragging something bulky around. For a long time I have used a little bag from Honduras that just fits my wallet, keys, cell phone, and softlips. As that bag has seen better days, I started making little hand bags to serve as replacements. These are a definite work in progress. I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to sewing, don't have a pattern, but
do have a growing box of fabric and a little creative flair. My favorite is the denim at the top, but also love the red check and the little bags I used for Valentines and Easter gifts for visiting teachees. Maybe someday I will get good enough to really whip them out (right now they still take me a while and are all pretty flawed--although I strategically photographed them so you wouldn't really notice). Hooray for learning to sew! (And hooray for big red buttons!)
Just one more thing to be happy about...

my order...
They are way cute! Nicely done my friend, nicely done
I love the red check one too! Really cute bags! I agree, yeah for sewing!
Hi Carly--found your blog on one of my daughter's. I knew you when you lived in Long Beach 3rd Ward and after your family moved to OC I visited a couple of times. Your mom is a very talented lady and I always marveled at her handiwork. Your bags are just as cute as they can be and the more you sew, the more you'll like it and the easier it will become. I also gave my girls sewing machines and they are having the time of their lives! HOORAY for sewing!!!
SEW ON!!!;)
Karen
YEAH FOR SEWING IS RIGHT!!! It is the best!!! I am soooo happy you posted all the little bags you have been making. I love seeing them. Keep at it. I find the sewing and crafts are such a stress relief for me (except when I can't figure one out and it stresses me out.) But, mostly when I can't handle things in life anymore I find a project. Keep having fun sewing!!
Carly Jane! This is Brynn (Howard) Naegle from freshman year! I'm so happy I found you! I've been wondering what happened to you, and I'm excited now to be able to stay posted on all your adventures from now on. You can read all about what I'm up to these days at bcnaegle.blogspot.com.
Cute bags. I love all the fabric combinations. Makes me want to pull out the fabric and start sewing again. - Amy Marble
I like the red-checked and the green plaid. Good work! Come to my house and help me learn to sew too!
I love them!! I got a sewing machine from my grandma Olson...I've never used one. And I'm a bit scared to attempt!
